Hello. I've bought w/ ems for a year now, so I am used to waiting times. I was just wondering what time my package (departed export customs) will arrive, or a somewhat accurate day, because it is a present for a friend. tracking no is LS453394169CN. Thank you so much for helping me out.

I still haven't seen enough ePackets some through after Christmas to be very confident in my estimates, but the few I have seen have taken 15 to 20 days, some as fast as 10. My best guess has it arriving between the 21st and 26th of January.

You probably know this already, but if you keep an eye on USPS tracking for this item, ePackets are usually delivered within 3-7 days of showing up in the USA.

Thanks. I was just confused as to why someone else (who had their package shipped out the same day as mine) has their tracking updated that theirs is at customs.

It could be any number of reasons -- different posting locations, different destinations, a customs officer who was more curious about your parcel than your friends, or just random luck. Mail dispatches don't move in lockstep, like courier routes tend to do -- the variability in arrival times is much greater.

This FAQ gives a bit of insight into how mail is processed, and might give you an idea of some of the places that delays can creep in.

How does the international mail system work? How is mail routed from one country to another?
