I ordered a heavy item, and for some reason my tracking # doesn't work (CP319450455CN).

Can you tell me when it will arrive?

http://track-chinapost.com/startairmail.php shows CP319450455CN is invalid. If you just got this number, you need wait one week to track it.

china post has no record of your parcel. this means china post has not received the parcel

It can now be tracked on China Post. Is the tracking # CP319450455CN using air mail, surface mail or SAL? Also when can I expect delivery?

CP parcel depends on its weight. If over 2 kgs, it goes surface mail. If less than 2kg, normally goes by air.
http://track-chinapost.com/startairmail.php shows the parcel was shipped on Oct 9. Normally it will arrive Canada customs in about one week by air or about 2 to 3 months by surface mail.

Canada import processing and sorting might take up to 80 days.

From your tracking result, the parcel should be shipped by airmail.

My tracking number is LM663344587CN. The seller says its not trackable and since it is peak season that my parcel might take longer to arrive.
What kind of parcel is it that is untrackable? How long does it typically take in peak season?

LM663344587CN looks like an ePacket format. If your seller really shipped the goods, you can track it in http://track-chinapost.com/track_global.php with 7 days. If over 7 days and you can not track the parcel, you should be cautious of fraud.
