Hello,

I sent a package from China to the US on April 22, 2016 and it has not reached the states yet.

This is the tracking information that I found on track-chinapost.com:
2016-04-22 15:15:24.0 Shenzhen city 建设路post dept. received
2016-04-22 16:11:31.0 Shenzhen city 建设路post dept. customs scan
2016-04-22 18:16:49.0 leaving Shenzhen city 建设路post dept. ,next station Shenzhen center
2016-04-23 10:13:07.0 Shenzhen Transit Station export security scan
2016-04-23 10:20:37.0 Shenzhen Transit Station export customs scan (domestic transit )
2016-04-24 05:09:18.0 Guangzhou Transit Station export security scan
2016-04-24 14:56:42.0 Guangzhou Transit Station export customs cleared
2016-05-05 11:37:00.0 Guangzhou departure
2016-05-09 09:59:00.0 Guangzhou departure

My question is, why did it depart Guangzhou twice? Is that normal? And how much longer will the package take? Its been almost three weeks.

Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks!

Thanks for the info about the airline space shortage to the US.
My next question is what is the difference between a tracking number that starts with CP rather than R? I looked on China Post's website and it says that a tracking number that starts with CP and ends in CN is registered surface mail and can take up to 6 months to arrive.
The tracking number for my package is CP323008495CN and weighs about 4.5kg. Will it go to the US by air? Because I choose and paid for air mail at the post office.
Thanks again!

1. Here are 2 definitions to remember:

SAL: short for Surface Air Lifted. Ships, buses, and trains are used within the sending and receiving countries, but air transport is used between countries. Land and sea transport are used if there are no flights. Usually it takes 15 – 20 working days. The cost is lower than air mail.

SURFACE: a parcel is transported via land and sea transport. It is cheap, but takes 40 – 70 working days.

After you order something from an online Chinese supplier, you may be asked to choose means of shipment. The Chinese supplier tends to use the postal services of China Post, as they are economic and convenient, although usually slow. China Post has the following services:

2. On this site you should be able to figure what was the cost of your parcel:

3. This might give you your answer that you are looking for.

Hope this help.

Hello,

I didn't order something from a Chinese supplier. I live in China and sent things home to the US. I went to the China Post Office filled out customs forms and selected air.
Based off of the link you gave me about shipping rates, I definitely paid for AIR parcel and not SAL or surface. Its been almost 15 working day since I sent it.
I have sent packages from my home in China to my friends in the US before, several times, but it has never taken this long. The other packages were smaller than this one (about 2kgs) but why is this one taking so long?

Thanks.
