Based on Chinese tracking result, the mail arrived in 塔城 on Jan 16. But the receiver is not living in that address and China Post can't contact the receiver by phone. So the parcel was returned to shipper on Jan 18(It is a little bit strange, destination post office normally will hold mail for two weeks. Your return case seems to be too quick).

The mail last location was in Urumqi sorting center on Jan 19. No update since then. As now is Chinese New Year holiday and the mail is lowest priority return airmail. This is normal.

You will see next update when it arrives in Turkey. We can not give you exact date. Please keep tracking it in Turkey Post website.

by the way, in the Chinese result, there is no customs clearance issue. I believe the English translation might have some error.

I think they may have started the return process directly because the recipient clearly and explicitly refused to receive it or because the recipient could not be reached (they said they could not be reached anyway). And maybe that is why it was kept waiting for 2 days instead of 2 weeks.

I have a few more questions. You said it will be visible when it arrives in Turkey and is processed by Turkish Post. Is there a possibility of it going abroad directly from Urumqi or will it go to Beijing or maybe Guangzhou first? I read a news on the internet that a cargo flight between Urumqi and Istanbul had started 1 month ago. But I don't think so.

And unfortunately Turkish Post does not provide tracking for any cargo outside of Turkey, so I cannot check it on their website. When I did, the last time it said "Shipped abroad" was on December 26. I think there will never be no updates unless it enters Turkey.

And should I contact them for the return address? Actually, my return address was written "Turkish" on the envelope. However, no one in China understands Turkish. I only wrote "Istanbul/Turkey" at the end. The alphabet is also different. Can China Post officials see my address in the system or do I need to contact them for the return address?

1)You can't know how it returned to Turkey. It might transit through Beijing, or directly to Istanbul or transit through some ...stan airport. It all depends on the price and shipping space situation.

2)China Post only care about country name, not the detail address. Actually the return mail is put into a Turkey Post mail container. Turkey Post will unpack the container and sort the mail based on the detail address in Turkey.

Got it, thank you. Then I will wait at least 1 more week for new updates. Is there an email address or online customer service that I can contact for China Post?

No. Unfortunately China Post does not reply any email. Actually China Post does not do any support for return parcel. You need to contact Turkey Post or simply wait.

This is unfair and ridiculous. I will file a dispute with China Post through Turkey Post. If they have my parcel from Turkey, they HAVE to send it back. Thanks for your help.
