Can someone tell me if this is normal, this ems package showed orgin post on the 18th, then did the same update again on the 23rd, and has shown no movement since

2016-12-18 00: 00: 00.0 02:20:02 Shenzhen to leave the processing center, sent to USSFOR = ISC SAN FRANCISCO CA (USPS)
2016-12-23 00: 00: 00.0 02:54:43 SHENZHEN ARRIVAL PROCESSING CENTER, SHENZHEN

2. Your parcel possibly tried to depart on the 18 for USA but no room was was available on the Aircraft so the mail bag came back to the Shenzhen processing center. Finally on the 23 the mail left the Shenzhen processing center for San Francisco.

3. Just continue to track your parcel on the USPS site for any new movement.

Is it normal for tracking to take this long to update? I've checked china post, track-chinapost.com, and usps, and all only show one update, that they've received notice of shipment. I've never had an ems package not update like this for this long.

1. Your tracking number will update as soon as USPS scan the parcel. When the parcel is On Route/In Transit, there is no information on the parcel.

2. Parcel to USA can take between 15 to 35 days to be deliver.

One more thing, due to the severe air quality issues that happened in China, many flights were getting cancelled and / or delayed. This happened to my parcel as well, but 4 times before it finally left.

Man this is ridiculous, it seems like nothing is arriving out of China, how long can they just hold thousands and thousands pieces of people's mail hostage with no updates?

1. When a parcel is ready for departure meaning Security and Customs check have been done. Then the next scan should be the receiving country.

2. On rare exception you will have a tracking that we can assume that there was no place on the aircraft or something happen with the aircraft and the mail bag did not get out of China. Like in your case the parcel tried to depart on the 18 Dec.

3. Also your parcel might have been doing this:
Multi-hop routing:
Routing is a whole separate matter, but suffice it to say that “lowest cost” tends to win out over “fastest speed”. Mail shipments may transit many countries en route to their destination.

4. If the seller promise you your parcel on a certain date, then contact him and ask him to verify with China Post EMS Hot Line: 11183, to find your parcel whereabouts.
