Post No update on parcel status for a week

Hello

I am waiting for an important letter from China and there has been no update to its status for a week now. It is just a letter so there should be no issues with the customs or anything. The sender told me I should receive it in 2 weeks and for the past week there has been no change to its status and it is still in China. Is this normal??
