Post Is my seller lying with the tracking info?

I am suspecting a Seller is lying to me:

In theory the past 9th of December she claims the package was posted at China Post.
This is the tracking number: RS506978703CN

Anyway, Since 8am (China Time) on the 9th of December (almost a week ago!) the only info available for this tracking is: "Electronic Data Received", with zero updates.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I think the package has been pre-assigned this number by CP, but it has not actually even been taken to the China Post office.

The seller keeps telling me that the package left China Post offices 7 days ago, but because X-mas season this delay in updating is "normal". I've shipped many times with China Post before, and it is true sometimes there are delays in shipments, or one or two days delays in tracking updates, but nearly with nothing referencing the package is on its way, I think it is strange.

By the way this parcel is just a small scarf, nothing fancy or electronic.

What do you think?

Thanks in advance

PS: if it helps, but for the moment I don't think is relevant, the destination is Turkey, and obviously, as normal, so far they do not have any tracking info yet, as it has not entered their country.

1. It can take sometimes up to 10 days for a partial to be register into the China Post systems.

2. If you have the tracking number only from the 9 Dec, then you need to wait till the 10 days have been done.

Hope this help.

OK, thanks

And what do they exactly mean by "Electronic Data Received". I know what it means literarily.

But, does it mean that at least the package entered into the office of China Post.

In other words, is it possible to have a tracking number pre-assigned before the package is actually brought to the China Post offices, or to have a number means that is already on its way at least?

1. This is the definition:
“electronic data received”, this means your seller (shipper) applied a tracking number from China, but does not actually ship the goods yet.

2. The number normally are ask electronically by the seller to China Post, I suspect but not entirely sure but they need to give some info to receive the tracking number.

3. After they received the number, normally the seller will communicate that number to the client and say to him the parcel is mail.

4. But in real life fact, the parcel is just sitting there beside them, until somebody pick up physically the parcel and deliver it to China Post.

5. That is why there is that 10 days waiting period, to make sure that the parcel has time to be deliver to China Post and that China Post has time to register the parcel into their system.

6. Sorry for the long explanation.

Hope this help.

Don't be sorry for the long explanation. I appreciate it. Thank you!

So, as I suspect, the package has probably not even left the seller's hands. 😡

1. Maybe the parcel did leave, you and I don't know for sure. The only way to know is when the tracking will start. But even then, it does not mean that China Post did not receive the parcel earlier.

2. Right now it's the busiest time of the year for all Post Office, so maybe the parcel was deliver but China Post did not get to it yet for registration.

3. It also depend where the parcel was mail, big city or a small city.

Hope this help.

OK, thanks. It's very surreal, then.

I understand there are Xmas delays, but the fact that the tracking might not match the actual shipping date, and might show up 10-day difference with respect to the real date, is incredible!

We could never really complain to a seller for shipping late. They can always excuse themselves blaming China Post and, we, the clients, will never know what's true, or if they are lying. mine promised the shipment left a week ago.

What can I do to find if it's true? Nothing!

I am giving the seller a chance until Monday. This product was ordered on the 5th. The seller in the page said within three days it would be shipped out. So most probably this upcoming Monday the 19th (14 days after order) status will still be "Electronic Data Received". I have to defend my rights, and I cannot forever put the blame on China Post with no proof.

It is very easy for the seller to show me at least a proof or receipt of the parcel's shipment date. If they don't, Dispute will come on Monday and, as I mentioned to them a few minutes ago, I understand Xmas delays, I do not understand not having stock when they confirmed they had before I ordered. I do not take lies easily. I even open a chat message before to make sure of that. Maybe their supplier failed them? Tough Luck, they should have them told me, offered me an alternative (similar product) or a refund.
