Post Package sent to nj and then went to,California????

I ordered an item on 11/20 and tracking says it made it to the east coast New Jersey (I'm in NJ) on 11/28 then check again it went off all the way to the west coast in California. Why would it be at its destination and then off to a totally different part of the United states. I'm upset and can't figure this out. Check again today it's still in California.

Can you tell me why when it arrived to New Jersey it went all the way across the United states to California. Why would it go to California and then all the way back to New Jersey again. Normally I don't get tracking information for items I buy in China but this one thing I did have wtracking so I don't know if this is normal to,travel back and forth such a long distance when it was already at its destination
