Post How to track a USPS First Class Package

Hi I bought an item off Ebay from New York and the tracking number said it left the Jamaica Ny International Distribution Center on the 28th of July...UA378191955US
I will probably have to pay Customs Duty...but no one has contacted me as yet.
Can you tell me how I can find out where the parcel is?
I have tried China Post telephone numbers 11185 / 83 but they won't connect.
Appreciate your help

are you in China or USA? if you are in China, you can not track USPS 1st class mail. China Post does not scan such parcel.

Hi I have noticed a lot of comments about "Fake Tracking Numbers" be issued, because the seller does not have the item in stock. How do I find out if my tracking number is fake?

if your parcel is china post register mail , you can track it in http://track-chinapost.com/startairmail.php . If it shows invalid, it means the number is fake.

Hi would the China Post number be the same as the USPS number or do they change it so it starts with "CP" and ends with "CN" but keeps the same USPS numerals?

NO WAY MAN. Nobody can change the tracking number arbitrarily to suit their purposes. The original tracking number will be used throughout the original and destination postal service. There is no such thing as one tracking number when posted then somehow modified to another tracking number to make it trackable somewhere else. So if u have been issued with a USPS tracking number its either trackable in china or it isnt! Simple as that.
