Tracking my package here and it has said it was at the airport for the last 6 days without movement.

This is the last status from the tracking result.

2018-09-18 23:11:00 -[Guangzhou ]arrive Guangzhou airport Processing Center (in transit )

When should I expect the tracking to update or when should I contact the seller about a lost package?

You'd better post tracking number to get help. China post has different services. the arrival time can be from 10 days to half year. We don't know what service you are talking about.

http://track-chinapost.com/result_ems.php?code=EA906440932CN shows the parcel was shipped on Sep 19 from Guangzhou. Normally such parcel arrive USA in 7 to 15 days. However, Guangzhou is suffering serious delay caused by typhoon. I believe you might need wait by mid Oct to get the goods.

Your parcel should be ok. It is just delayed by airline cancellations . not necessarily lost or damaged.
