Post Sending Musical Instruments Abroad

Hi there,

I searched for other posts but couldn't find any related to this topic. I'm in a bit of a bind. I own a very old synthesizer (musical instrument) and I need it repaired.

Unfortunately I have been unable to find anyone in China who has the experience to fix it. I have found a store in Japan and would like to send the keyboard there.

Before I package everything up and drag it down to my local China post I would like to know if electronics are allowed to be shipped abroad? It's just a keyboard and does not contain any batteries but I'm worried I will just get a flat "no".

Does anyone have experience with this? If anyone has any advice I would be really grateful.

Thanking everyone in advance.

Are you in China and want to send your instrument to Japan for repair service?

If it is a valuable item and you don't care about the cost. I suggest you use DHL to ship the item to Japan and then use DHL to send it back. To be frank, China Post only have economical class service and not good for valuable or fragile item. your expensive item is very likely to be damaged during shipping.

If it is not a valuable item(repair cost is important to you), then it is not worth to send it to Japan. Shipping cost and import duty (from Japan back to China) will make the total repair cost extremely expensive and lengthy. Also the risk of the back and forth shipping damage is very high for music instrument.

Ok, thank you. I have a heavy armoured case so the instrument should be ok. I will decide what to do, DHL is an option but it's much more expensive than China Post. As long as both of them are willing to accept electrical items, I will think about it and choose one.
