hi the last status on my package says "sent to airline". but the date i'm seeing is the 24th of December on that status. can someone suggest how to proceed from there? what does this mean? should i check my country's postal service? i've been waiting a while now and would just like to finally receive my package.

What country was your parcel sent to?
It could be in your country already and awaiting its customs scan before being dispatched to your address

You need to find out what company usually delivers your mail, customs would normally pass it over to them so it can be delivered.
When you find out, call them quoting your tracking number, or use their official site

My tracking # RB442256348CN also says sent to airline on Jan. 19th 2014 but when I go to the next screen for delivery info in the United States it only says : Origin Post is Preparing Shipment. What does that mean? How am I to know which shipping company will be finishing the shipment? There are like 5 different companies.

You go with the company that delivers your everyday mail. Track it with whatever company that is. If the status says origin post is preparing then it means it hasn't arrived in the USA. If it has it would've been scanned on arrival at the United States customs in New York. From there it would've been sent to its destination state, on arrival at your state it would've been scanned again to state it's out for delivery, and scanned one last time to confirm it has been delivered to you.

USPS will be the local delivery agent for China Post parcel in USA.
