My tracking status says “Delivered,” but I haven’t received anything. What happened, and what should I do?
There are a few possible reasons for this:
- The Shipper printed wrong address. As you can’t know exact shipping address simply through tracking number, you need to ask shipper for original shipping label copy and verify the shipping address. If the shipper(Seller)can not provide shipping label or does not response, claim refund from your bank.
- Parcel might have been stolen. Check your front porch or security camera footage to see if anyone picked it up.
- It was delivered to a neighbor. The delivery driver might have left it at the wrong door. Try reaching out to your neighbors to check.
- The most likely scenario: Online shopping Scam!
Here is how this clever scam works: Fraudulent sellers list popular, brand-name items on their online shop at ridiculously low prices. Once a buyer places an order, the scammer ships a piece of cheap junk to a random address within the buyer’s zip code. Once tracking shows “Delivered” , they can process and capture the charge with the credit card company.
You might wonder: Why go through the trouble of actually shipping something instead of just charging the card directly?
Because many credit card companies now require a valid delivery record matching the buyer’s zip code before releasing funds. And since scammers don’t want the buyer to receive the cheap item—which could be used as physical proof of fraud—they send it to a random address in that same zip code instead.
How to resolve this: File a claim directly with the shopping platform (such as Amazon, TEMU, AliExpress, etc.). If you purchased directly from an independent store rather than a major marketplace, file a chargeback dispute with your credit card company. If multiple customers report the same issue, the scammer’s merchant account will be shut down, and you will get your money back.
