2. What you are referring to is possibly USPS option/function that you ask about your parcel when you visited/track your parcel on the USPS site.
I really don't see anything else.

3. Coming back to your parcel, it's On Route/In Transit to USA JFK. Now I suspect your parcel will be delay just like a lot of other US resident. This might be the reason.

4. When your parcel was sent it was not normal condition. Because:

Holiday Season
China Post has too many parcels to send overseas
Not enough room on the Aircraft for parcels
Smog in China delaying Aircraft or cancelling them
Rescheduling of mail bags
New York overwhelming of parcel incoming from Overseas.

5, Just continue to track your parcel on the USPS site for any new movement.
