I purchased something from a site that is not trustworthy at this point. They gave me a tracking number but it has since stopped tracking. I feel I may have been scammed as the item ordered weighs over 400lbs and China post only ships up to 40kg. My question is is there any way to see the size of the package by the tracking number?

you can not see the size by tracking number . But we are sure you are scammed. China Post can not ship anything over 400lbs.
