Hi, I was hoping I could get someone to help me. I had ordered a package from a retailer in China on the 18th of this month and on the 22nd after tracking the number it says "despatched from sorting center in shanghai." I've been a little afraid of it not making it to me cause it is now the 30th and the status has not been updated. I don't know if it's still in China or made to the U.s. where I live. Any help or advice is welcomed, thank you!

It is now some middle location between China Post system and USPS system(possibly airline warehouse in Shanghai ,China or customs warehouse in LAX airport,US). You can not know exact situation when parcel is in such middle locations.

Such no-information stage might last 7 to 20 days(rush season can take 30 to 40 days) until USPS gets the parcel from customs. Then USPS website will show its new status with US location.

If your buyer protection is expiring, open dispute for refund. Otherwise keep waiting.
