Hello I sent out a package from America to Wuhan, China. specifically a chinese university in Wuhan

I sent the package out on October 2 from Florida and according to the China post tracking it arrived in Shanghai on October 6 then arrived in Wuhan on October 10. I checked the tracking number on the USPS (American post office) and it showed that the package was in America on October 10th and it is in transit. Is the package being sent back to America? I called my friend who is wuhan asking her if she got the package or got a phone call from the China Post and she said she never got a call from China post saying that the package arrived at the university to pick up. Is the package still in China or are you sending it back to America. I left her phone number on the customs form and I don't know why they would not call her first before sending it back to me.
